Can I wear more than one outfit?

Yes, a 60 minute session allows for two looks, you may have fun pulling off a casual & dressy look!

Can I bring my pet or props?

Yes! If you want to bring your pet, accessories, personal items, and/or you are interested in using your own props for Thank You signs, announcements, Save the Date signs, etc… We do not carry specific props as we want every session to be unique.

Please let us know in advance if you plan to bring a pet or props. Your pet or multiple props will be considered “one” of the two looks in a 60 minute session and will only allow one outfit typically. Just give us a call, text or email to chat more about it.

PREPARATION AND PARKING

ARRIVAL: The day of the session, prepare to arrive to the location early enough to park and walk to our meeting spot. Often San Diego locations (and/or traffic) can take a little longer than expected.

HAIR/MAKEUP: If you decide to do a hair and/or makeup trial, plan accordingly and give yourself some buffer to change. More often than not those trials often run longer than anticipated and we don't want you stressed or rushed.

OUTFITS: If you plan to change outfits, we suggest bringing along a tote with everything, often getting back to your car isn’t easy or convenient. Just let us know what your are thinking of planning for wardrobe, pets and/or props, we love understanding any vision you might have! Please do not arrive with countless outfits. If you are uncertain about what to wear just give Holly a call prior to the date of the session and she can help.

BELONGINGS: Try to have all your pockets empty (leave those smartphones in the car or in the tote). Unless you want a photo with sunglasses, you can leave those in your car too.

RING: Consider getting your ring cleaned and perhaps getting a mani/pedi too. It can be a fun way to treat yourselves!

And be ready to have some fun together!!!

We like our photography to be about you and we know how important wardrobe can be in looking your best, so here are some tips for what to wear for your engagement session.

As far as overall wardrobe, it depends if you visualize your final photos as casual, sporty, semi-casual, semi-dressy or dressy, everyone is different. The location of your shoot may also determine the feel of your wardrobe. Looking for some inspiration, we suggest viewing our engagement gallery to provide you with ideas of what may work best in different environments.

The location of your shoot may also determine the feel of your wardrobe. Casual/Semi-Casual

Jeans look great on camera and jeans are the first things we think of when it comes to casual. When you are casual, sometimes, bold colors can be great to compliment the fun attitude of a casual shoot. We recommend simply lines, stay away from bold prints. We suggest for men a shirt that is un-tucked, trying to avoid looking like it is casual Friday at the office. We also suggest that woman/girls avoid flip-flops for photos.

They do not photograph well and actually do not compliment a woman’s body and we actually recommend a small or high heal for your final selection of shoe or sandal, unless it makes you taller than you want to be, then stick wtih some cute flats. Casual is also a feeling of the photos being more about you than what you are wearing.

Semi-Dressy/Dressy

Sometimes there is nothing like a cocktail dress, heals, and a man dressed up in slacks and a nice shirt or jacket. Dressy typically means “no jeans” and the wardrobe plays a little more part in the feel of the photos. Dressy usually means a dress for the women and slacks for the men. The best way to think about “dressy” is how you would want to look your best for a dinner party, a date or a wedding reception. But avoid looking like you are going to the office. That’s not dressy, that is office attire.

TIPS FOR HER

• This is a perfect time to coordinate with your makeup and/or hair vendor to do a test the day of the session.

• This is also a great time to get your ring cleaned and spoil yourself with a manicure and/or pedicure.

• Avoid flip-flops

• Sandals are still appropriate and a small, medium or high heal is actually ideal. We definitely suggest a heal…Unless it makes you taller than you want to be.

• Avoid shirts that easily show your bra-straps.

• If your shirt might wrinkle on the way, put it on once you arrive.

• Avoid shirts that show your hip/belly area when you lift your arms unless you want to show off your midriff then go for it.

• If you choose to wear a skirt or dress, just make sure you are comfortable for any possible sitting shots.

• We normally suggest that you avoid hard graphic patterns. Floral or ornate patterns and soft textures are more flattering.

• Try to wear colorstay lipstick and bring it along with you, plus having a hairbrush on hand is never a bad idea.

TIPS FOR HIM

• If your shirt might wrinkle on the way, put it on once you arrive.

• It is recommended to wear pants in which the pants leg is long and covers part of the shoe, versus a pant leg that hits right at the top of the shoe. For sitting shots, men’s pants legs can look “high-water” and show more of your sock than wanted.

• We suggest wearing black, brown or fun patterned socks, avoid white or light colors.

• We suggest a simple graphic pattern or a plain color shirt. White & sky blues are always a favorite on men. Avoid looking like you are going to the office.

• Wear dress shoes or nice sneakers. Flip-flops will work for men (versus we don't suggest for women) and/or a nice sandal.

• Try to keep your pockets empty as much as possible during the photo shoot.

• Wearing a jacket or a blazer can really add a little edge to any man's outfit.
